My Recordkeeping Plan
1. What is the name and contact information for your bank?
BB&T 941-492-4163
2. What are the names and contact information for any other accounts you have, such as a cell phone account or car loan? N/A
3. Where will you keep the following records? Indicate where you plan to store hard copies or online records of each item.
Pay-stubs and W-2 form: hard copy, filing cabinet.
Bank statements: hard copy, filing cabinet.
Where will you keep other account statements (phone, car insurance etc.): hard copy, filing cabinet.
Where will you keep your Social Security card, passport or other items: SSN= Wallet and passport and other items in a safe.
Budget and receipts: hard copy, filing cabinet.
6. Knowing when your bills are due and having a set time when you will review your budget, spending, and account statements for errors is also key. Indicate which days of the month you plan to do the following:
Pay monthly bills (phone, bus pass etc.): around 15th and 30th of each month.
Receive your paycheck or allowance: every two weeks.
Review bank and other statements for errors: as soon as I receive them.
Compare your spending to your budget and adjust your budget as needed: At the end of each week and month.
As you organize your records and work toward your financial goals, which online tools will you use to manage your finances? I would use turbo tax for annual taxes, other than that I many use other sites like Quiken.com if needed.
